Aita made a great job of her Ll learning on Friday. She was able to fill in all the missing words from the sentences from the story.
She drew a picture of her family and her house. Great work Aita.
Welcome to our classroom blog for 2022. We are a class of New Entrant learners at Pt England School, in Auckland, New Zealand. Mrs Shirley is our teacher.
Aita made a great job of her Ll learning on Friday. She was able to fill in all the missing words from the sentences from the story.
She drew a picture of her family and her house. Great work Aita.
This week we celebrated Loud shirt day by wearing our most colourful and bright clothes to our class meets. Everyone looked amazing. Bright colours made us happy.
Some people made their own shirts with colourful paints and dyes. Some people made colourful shirts on EE's and some people coloured in shirts.
We learnt that loud shirt day is about supporting people who find it hard to hear. We know that we need to face people when we talk to them and that makes it easier for them to hear.
Aita was inspired by the book on yesterdays slide. It was the story Handa's Surprise. Its all about a girl with some fruit and some cheeky animals.
She made a woven basket just like the one Handa carried on her head and then she made fruit kebabs using lots of different fruit just like the fruit Handa had for her friend Akeyo.
Everyday Aita and Athena share their amazing work with their teachers. It is great to see how they are improving everyday!
They have learnt to write letters by being careful to notice the shape of each letter and concentrating when they copy them.
Here they are writing the letter Bb from Mr Ryans Friday slides.
For 'Fill your Bucket Friday' AJ created a minion themed bucket. He had to follow lots of steps to make it, including taping up the bucket, sticking on the eyes and hair, and drawing on the details.
Ka Pai te mahi!
On Friday Team One celebrated returning to school with a special meet. All week we had been thinking about how we can use "Our Voice, Our Choice" to make other people and ourselves happy. We discovered that we can fill peoples buckets by saying and doing nice things.
Friday was Fill your bucket Friday and so we decorated buckets and brought them to share with others.
Last term we learnt about skip counting. It is a great way to count groups of the things and to count lots of things faster!
AJ worked on learning to skip count in the holidays and now he can count in 2's all the way to 50 and in 5's all the way to 100. That is AWESOME AJ.
Athena is focused on her handwriting and that is why she is doing such amazing work. Athena has been putting heaps of effort into learning to write numbers and letters since we have been learning from home.
They start at the top line and are sitting on the bottom line and they are all the same size.
Great job Athena your F's are FANTASTIC.
Aita has been practising their handwriting and yesterday we worked on the letter F.
Aita was able to think of 12 things that start with the letter F and she drew a flag, a flower and a fork. She filled her Mum's bucket by helping take out the rubbish. Awesome work Aita. You have made a great start to the term.
It was great to see so many of our awesome tamariki online this morning. We are all so excited to be back learning together.
This term our inquiry focus is groups. We are all members of groups, - School, Church, Cultural, Community groups, sports teams and of course our whanau.
In Team One we will be learning about what it means to be a good group member and how we can use our voices and choices to make others happy and good things happen in our groups.
We hope you enjoy our movie.
Athena and Dothan have been focussed on their learning all term and have worked especially hard at home. Congratulations to you both and your whanau for helping you with your learning. You are amazing.
Aita has finished off the term properly by working on all the tasks set on the team one slides.
Here she has done some reading and writing practise and she has drawn an amazing fire engine.
