Maths thinking during play

Today we explored numbers, counting, and 10's frames whilst sorting and playing with a big plastic bucket full of insects.

Aisha found two green crickets and then found the number card and number to match.  Great focus Aisha!

Tamatoa used counters to match the 10's frames patterns.  Then he found the same numerals!

Wow awesome thinking Tamatoa.

Healthy Me, Healthy You

This term we are learning "How to be healthy and happy".

We will be learning about healthy diets, exercise, emotions and relationships.  We will be getting fit for cross country and meeting Harold the Giraffe who will teach us lots of great tips for staying healthy!

The teachers made a movie to share at the Immersion Assembly to show us some of things we will be learning.  We hope you enjoy it!  We think its really funny!

Matariki Day

Happy Matariki !!

On the last day of the year Team 1 celebrated Matariki.   We joined with people from other classes to do some fun activities.  In room 13 we celebrated the Matariki star - Tupuanuku - star of found which comes from the ground.

We planted some vegetable seedlings.  We planted cabbages, brocolli, cauliflower and celery.  When they grow we will be able to share this kai with our classmates.

We decorated cookies with icing and colourful sprinkles.  We made one to eat and one to share with our whanau.  We learnt that coming together to share kia is a special Matariki tradition.

Sport In Team 1

Lots of the learners in team one are keen sportspeople.

This week was sadly our last Kiwisport gymnastic's lesson.  We all really enjoyed learning the new skills and challenging ourselves.  We learnt tricks with hoops and how to balance and do forward rolls.

Some of our class play sport for Pt England School.  We play netball and rippa rugby.  Here are some photos from this weeks games.
