Going to the playground.

We have been learning to write stories about things we have done.  This is called a recount.
Today we wrote about playing on the school playground.

Ashleigh wrote:

I went on the monkey bars.
I went on two times.
I want to go on the slide.

“I felt happy when I went on the monkey bars.
I feel sad because I did not get to go on the slide", said Ashleigh.

Ezekiel wrote:
I went to the park.
I went on the ladder like a fireman.

Room 13 loves to move

This week we have had a lot of fun moving our bodies!

On Monday we had Kiwisport.
This term we have been learning gymnastics.
We learnt how to land safely.. like a motorbike rider.

"I like to bounce and balance" said McKenna.

Yesterday we got to stretch our muscles on the playground.
We all took turns on the slide.
We climbed on the ladders.
We swung on the Monkey bars.

Serena was having fun!

Fun Day Friday - Eating Lava rocks

Today we made Hokey Pokey!
It looked like lava when it was hot and poured out and when it was cold it was hard like a rock.
It was yummy and it crunched when we ate it.

A very special assembly for a special person.

On Friday we had our first school assembly for a very long time.

It was a very special assembly because we got to celebrate our awesome principal Mr Burt.

McKayla presents Mr Burt with a Lai from Rm13.

We heard that Mr Burt got a special award from the Queen!
McKenna presents flowers to Mrs Burt.

We are all very proud of him and thankful for all he and Mrs Burt do for our school and community.

Then we painted the center of the earth.  We showed the core and the mantle.
We painted these hot colours.
Ruth is painting a blue sea.

Ezrah painted the core of the earth red.

The Living Earth by McKenna

The blue is the water which is a river or the sea.  The green is the grass which we need to play on.
I can see trees and the sun and clouds.  There is more grass because people live on the grass.
We need to look after the Earth because if we don’t we would have to live on a rocketship.
I would like to live on rocketship because it would be fun but I would miss my family.

First I stuck the grass on, then I put the water on then I said “My Earth Looks Cool!”

We need trees because they are cool.  They give us wood to make tables and pencils, chairs and
for mixing cakes when we use a spoon.
My tree is an apple tree...it has 5 apples growing on the tree.

Social distancing Crowns - Friday Fun Day

On Friday we made social distancing hats.
These hats help us to remember that we need to keep a safe distance from each other.

First we coloured our hats in.
Blessing had the idea to cut triangles into our hats to make them into crowns.

It was hard work blowing up the balloons.  But we kept going!

We decorated them with  6 stickers.  Some of us decided to put 3 stickers on each balloon.

Then we walked around the school and visited Room 16 to show them our awesome crowns.!

It was a Fun Day!
