Thinking outside the square

Today we explored shapes, and we used them to create amazing pictures.  We have been talking alot about space and that motivated some of us to create rockets.

Aniitah made a 3D rocket by stacking lots of squares on top of each other.

Wow that was a really imaginative way to make build your space craft.  Awesome.

One of our newest class members made an amazing rocket using lots of different shapes.
Tace worked hard on this - Good Job Tace.

Khadafi decided to use the shapes to make a portrait of his dad.  He thought hard about all the parts of his dads body which he needed to put on this model.  He chose pieces that were the same shape and colour so that it was symmetrical.  Khadafi was very proud of his effort.

Making Kindness Cookies

Today we celebrated Anti-bullying Day.  At Pt England School we call this Kindness day, as it makes us think about what we can do to make our school and homes happy places.

We made Kindness Cookies!  Our cookies were heart shaped cookies and we got decorate them.

First we smoothed out the sticky icing.  We had 3 colours to choose from.  Then we added sprinkles and m&ms.

When the icing dried we shared our cookie with a friend.  We know its kind to share!

They were yummy!!!

Creating rockets

On Funday Friday we were able to let our imaginations run wild.  We went out into the sunshine with LOTS of materials and made rockets.

First we talked about what rockets look like, what shape they need to be to fly, what they are made of and the different parts of a rocket ship.  We thought about designing our own rockets and what we wanted them to look like.

Mrs Shirley loved the way Rawiri spent a long time designing his rocket on the whiteboard.  He showed the rocket fuel exploding from the rocket and had nine windows for the astronauts.

Jackson and Boston collaborated to make this enormous rocket.  They had to think hard about how to join the two tubes together and they had to decide how to include both their ideas.  Well done boys - your rocket is amazing.

The Lion in the Meadow

Our trip to see the play "The Lion in the Meadow" was a fantastic experience for everyone.

First we went on the bus.  For lots of us it was our first time on a bus trip.

Emilee and Ms Lowans were excited to get going!

Kim Kim and Aniitah were singing the 'Wheels on the Bus".

When we arrived at Te Oro, we were taken into the theatre.  It was dark and we sat in our seats, waiting for the show to start.  We laughed alot at the play, and we clapped when they had finished.  We loved the play.
