Happy Easter from Room 13

 Happy Easter Whanau!

We hope you have a safe and happy holiday.

We had an awesome day today celebrating the upcoming holiday.

First we had a visit from a real life easter bunny.  Mrs Forbes brought in her bunny Jojo to meet the class. We learnt about what he likes to eat, where he likes to sleep and how he goes for a walk.  Everyone got to give him a pat or brush his fur.  Rawiri said he was soft and fluffy.  Nathanael said he like to eat apple and lettuce.

Thank you Mrs Forbes. We Love Jojo.

Then we wrote stories about Jojo and made rabbit puppets.

P is for Pizza

On friday we made Pizza.

We were able to choose our own yummy toppings and eat it for morning tea.  Yum.

Today we wrote a poem about Pizza.

We thought about how it smelt, how it looked and how it tasted!

We learnt about rhyme.  We know that words which sound the same at the end are rhyming words.

iPad's make maths fun.

Today we used ipads to practise writing numbers.  We used the Explain Everything app to write and take photos of our favourite numbers.

Jackson's favourite number is 1000.  Wow Jackson that is a big number!

Connor's favourite number is 2.
He changed the colour on the EE pen so he could write 2 in the same colour as his plastic number.

Tiaki Taonga - We cherish our treasures

In Rooms 13 and 17 we have been thinking about who we are, and all the things and people we treasure.

We have created self-portraits with crayon and paint.   We also shared what are treasures to us.  Our art shows that even though we are all different we are all special and amazing in our own ways.

Meet The Teacher day

Today was Meet the Teacher afternoon and our whanau got to come into school to see all the cool things we have been doing.

We made cards to say thank you for coming in and to tell our parents what we like to do at school.

Kohatu wrote: At school I like to learn new things.  Well done Kohatu, miharo!

Larnorah wrote, "At school I like to read."  You are an awesome reader Larnorah!

Ava-Lee drew an amazing picture and wrote about how she likes to play on the park.  You are having a great time at school!

Friday Fun Day!

Friday is a great day to come to school.

Today we made apple and pear crumble with Room 17.

First we peeled and diced the fruit.  We all had a turn chopping the fruit.  The pears were juicy.
Then we put the apples and pears in a pot and cooked them.
Next we made the crunchy crumble.  We mixed rolled oats, coconut, flour, brown sugar and butter together.  Then we baked it in the oven.

Finally we got to eat it! It was yummy!!!

Room 13 can write.

Today we read the book 'I can write'.   The tamariki in the book wrote with lots of things in lots of different places.  We thought we would like to try writing with chalk!

Kim Kim wrote numbers.

Nathanael wrote his name in chalk.

Jackson made a huge hopscotch game and then we all had fun playing together.

Back to school fun!

Today we were back learning in Room 13 and we were having heaps of fun.

Using our creativity in Maths

We played a lot of maths games today.  It was great fun and it really got our brains working.  We had to make shapes and patterns that matched the cards.
Brent used coloured blocks to make towers that were the same as the picture.  He concentrated hard to make sure it was the same.
Saara made patterns with ice block sticks and she was able to copy the pictures really well.
Great job!!

Congratulations Jackson

Well done Jackson!  He is our Duffy certificate winner this week.

Jackson has joined our Team 1 meets every day this week.  Jackson has been showing Good Manners for Google Meets (GM for GM).

He was listening carefully and shared his thinking during the meets as well.   Jackson sent me some of the incredible work he has been doing.  It was so good to see all the mahi you are putting in at home.

Ka pai Jackson.
