An awesome day at the zoo

 On Wednesday Team One had a great day at the Auckland Zoo.  

Blessing said "the sun is shining and the birds are chirping, it's a good day to go to the zoo".  He was right it was an awesome day to go to the zoo.

We saw lots of amazing animals and had alot of fun.

Art Alive in Term 4

Kiwisport - Our last Taekwondo lesson

 Today we sadly had our last Taekwondo lesson for the term.  

We have had a lot of fun learning from Coach Brendon.  

Today we learnt how to break some boards with our feet. We had to raise our knee up really high. It was a bit scary at first but then we all had a go and it was awesome.

Kapa Haka performance at assembly

Today our senior Kapa Haka group gave a performance at school assembly.  

They were really amazing and we loved watching them.  When they had finished we all cheered. They made us really proud.

We wrote stories about what we had seen.

Wacky Wheels - Manaiakalani Film Festival 2020

 



Today we got to share our Team 1 movie with Pt England school and lots of other schools as well.

We went on the bus to Sylvia Park.  We were so proud to see ourselves on the big screen.

Listening to stories in our home languages.

 We have been reading and listening to some very special books in our classroom over the last few weeks.

These books have two languages in them.  Mrs Shirley reads to us in English and then we listen to the languages we hear at home and with our fanau.  

Blessing liked listening to the stories in Samoan.  His Mum read the story The Race to him too.

Marriane told the class about the doughnuts her Nany makes - just like the ones in the story - No Ducks.

 On Friday we had a very exciting day.  It was Athletics Day!

Our Garden is growing

 We have been looking after our garden.  We water it and make sure no weeds are growing.

We have lots of pretty flowers now and our strawberries are growing and some are even ready to eat.

Team 1 Assembly

 Today we were able to join together with the other Year One classes for Team Assembly. 

It was great to be able to share our weekly team certificates again.

Congratulations this week to Ezekiel and Marriane who received certificates for being great learners.

Inspired by Frida Kahlo

 This week we learnt about the Artist Frida Kahlo and  we made self portraits using lots of different types of art.





We used photography to take pictures and then we cut them out.

We sculpted 3 dimensional flowers with coloured paper.

We drew leaf designs with crayon and then painted them with watercolours.

Mrs Shirley was very proud of the amazing art works we created.

Tamanuitera

 Today we finished our paintings inspired by the legend of Maui and the sun.

We used red, orange and yellow crayons and water colours.  We are really proud of our work.

Our classroom garden.

 In spring time we see lots of flowers growing.  

Today we planted flowers and strawberries in the garden outside our classroom.  

Marriane told us about how she gardens with her Grandma.  Te Awhina thinks that our classroom is going to look beautiful when the flowers come out.  Paula loves strawberries and is excited to try the ones that we grow.



Springtime

We have been learning about the seasons of the year.  We wrote stories about springtime.

Cross Country 2020

 Friday was cross country day and the whole school came out to cheer each other on.

We were lucky that the sun was shining and we got to race against all of the other Year 1 classes.

It was cool to see all the children and  teachers dressed up in their house colours.

After the race Mr J played cool music for us to dance to!




Tongan Language week.

We have had heaps of fun this week learning some Tongan words, listening to Tongan stories and music.

Marcus's sister came into class to show us her beautiful traditional Tongan clothes.

Wacky Wheels Funday Friday

 Friday was a fantastic day for everyone at Pt England School.  

We celebrated coming back to school with a Wacky hair, Wheels day.  

We wore mufti and rode our bikes, scooters and skateboards at lunchtime.



Mr Burt gave us a special ride on his bike.  He went fast it was so much fun!

Matariki fun day

Today was Matariki fun day at Pt England School.
We celebrated with the whole school.
First we had a special assembly with lots of waiata and Kapa Haka.
